Carlos E. Seaton M. is a Metallurgical Engineer and Ph.D from the Michigan Technological University and accumulates extensive academic, managerial and business experience in training, research and consulting activities within the Intensive Services value chain in Technology and Knowledge. He was a professor at the Simón Bolívar University (USB) from 1975 to 1998. He has also been a professor at the Michigan Technological University (1983/84), and a visiting researcher at the University of Carnegie-Mellon (1984/85) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT (1992/1993). In his career as a researcher, entrepreneur, director of international organizations promoting science, technology and innovation, professor, and consultant, he has accumulated experiences on a variety of topics related to the conceptual, operational and relational dimensions that determine the competitiveness of innovation systems and ecosystems.

In the context of TICAL, his presentation will deal with the convergence of four innovation modalities - open, digital, social and innovation in technology-intensive and knowledge-intensive services - around a complex, generative space in which they grow, exponentially, the ideas, prototypes, technologies and knowledge that drive a digital transformation that has been catalysed by COVID-19.
